2021 marks the 1st year since the founding of the Data Science Department in 2020. It is my pleasure that you are here to know about our department. We are an academic department that specializes in Data Science. Our department focuses on building graduates who can do better for themselves and for the society.

Since its inception, the field of Data Science has seen very rapid growth and is now a very vast, dynamic, and promising field of study around the world. The department of Data Science at Punjab University understands the international and national need for quality Data Science human resources.

By the grace of Allah almighty, the department of Data Science at University of the Punjab aims at providing a cherished learning experience to its students under the umbrella of encouraging and visionary management. The hallmark of the department is its highly qualified and knowledgeable faculty. The department offers BS in Data Science at the undergraduate level to fulfill the need for data scientists in business and industry.

The importance of research cannot be neglected in today’s world for state-of-the-art development of technology. Therefore, research and industrial collaborations are critical success components of any University. Keeping this vision in mind, the department offers MS/Ph.D. Data Science at the graduate level.

I, personally visualize a very brilliant future of the department which would achieve excellence in imparting quality teaching, promoting research culture and develop industry-academia linkage program in the field of Data Science. I pray to Allah Almighty that the department always flourishes by producing graduates who can serve the society in a better way.
